Who Is Stan Lee?

Stan Lee’s real name is Stanley Martin Lieber. And he is the world’s most famous comic book writer and producer.

Stanley Martin was born on December 28, 1922 in Manhattan, New York, to a Jewish family of Romanian origin. His father’s name is Jack Lieber and his mother’s name is Celia Lieber. His father worked as a dress cutter but after some time he moved to depression.

He did not do much work after that. This is why Stan Lee’s childhood was spent in poverty. When he was a child, he had a lot of love for books and films, especially superhero books.

When he was a teenager, his family moved to an apartment where only one bedroom in which Stan Lee and his brother slept. And his parents slept on the couch.

Lee did his elementary school at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. He started writing at a young age. And he works for the National Tuberculosis Center as assistant writing for press releases.

He finished high school in 1939 at the age of 15 and joined the WPA Federal Theater Project. Beginning in 1942, Lee entered the United States Army and served as a member of the Signal Corps. He then also worked to repair telegraph poles and other communications equipment.

A short time later he joined Timely Comics. Where he worked as an editorial assistant. Impressed by his work in 1942, he was promoted to editor. Lee then went on to create several book series, such as The Destroyer, Jack Frost and Black Marvel.

He then married Joan Clayton Bokok of England. In 1950 their first daughter Joan Celia Lee was born. Then their second daughter Jan Lee was born in 1953 but died just a few days after birth.

In 1961, Lee collaborated with artist Jack Kirby to produce The Fantastic Four, which was quite popular. A year later, Lee and Steve Ditko created Spider-Man. After that, he wrote many stories.

Due to which his books started becoming increasingly successful. Lee began working with Marvel Studios. In 1963 he create The X-Men. In 1972 Lee became Marvel’s publisher and editorial director.

Lee collaborated with Marvel for nearly 60 years and then started Stan Lee Media, an internet entertainment company, in 1999. His first project was with an animated online series called the 7th Portal which was a huge success.

But after that, the company faced many lawsuits and corruption charges. This caused a lot of loss to the company. And in 2001 the company was filed for bankruptcy.

Lee then created the Requiere animated superhero series Stripperella for Spike TV. That same year, DC Comics released their first work, Just Imagine Series, written by Lee. In which Lee conceived DC superheroes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash.
