
Marion Robert Morrison, best known as a John Wayne in the film world. He was a popular icon of Hollywood’s Golden Age or silent era. John is especially famous for his western and war movies.
Wayne was born on May 26, 1907 in Winterset, Lowa. His mother’s name was Mary Alberta Brown and his father’s name was Clyde Leonard Morrison who worked as a pharmacist.
A few years later, John Wayne moved to Palmdale, California with his family. There he began his studies at Glendale Union High School and later in Wilson Middle School. In school, he was very good in both studies and sports.

He also participated in the football tournament for the Glendale High School team. During his studies, John Wayne also worked in an ice-cream shop. After schooling, he joined the University of Southern California. There he studied pre-law.
During college, Wayne became a part of the USC football team. At the same time, he had an accident while bodysurfing and broke his collarbone. Due to this serious injury, his football scholarship of the University of Southern California was canceled.
This ended the sports career of John Wayne. After this, he started working for Fox Film Corporation. In the beginning, he struggled a lot. He played small roles in different films.
In 1930, he played the lead role for the first time in Raoul Walsh’s film The Big Trail. After this, John played the lead role in many low-budget films. But this did not give him any special recognition.
In 1939, John Wayne acted in the film Stagecoach and this made him an overnight superstar. After this, he worked in about 142 motion pictures one after the other.

During that time, he worked with many famous Hollywood stars. He remained at the top of the box office for three consecutive decades. In 1999, John Wayne was recognized by the American Film Institute as the greatest male star of classic American cinema.
Also in 1980, he was also honored with the awards of “Presidential Medal of Freedom”, the highest civilian honor of the US. But he died before this honor. He last made a public appearance at an Academy Awards ceremony.
After this, John Wayne was diagnosed with stomach cancer and due to this, he died on June 11, 1979, at the age of 72, during treatment at UCLA Medical Center.
