Who Is James Beard ?

James beard full name is James Andrews Beard. He was born in Portland in 1903 to the home of Elizabeth and John Beard. His mother was a cooking lover and operated the Gladstone Hotel and his father worked in a city custom house.

James Beard Study :

James began his study at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. But in 1922, he was dropped out of college for homosexuality. However, later the college gave him an honorary degree.

James Beard Career :

James worked with a theatrical troupe in 1923 after studying and lived abroad for many years. He trained to become a singer and actor. but did not like acting so much so that he returned to the United States in 1927.

In 1937, he realized that he had the ability to cook and should go into the world of cooking.

In this way, he started the cooking journey and wrote a book on cooking in the 1940s which was about cocktail food, hors d’oeuvre and canapés. Along with that, he also learned to cook outside food.

Between 1945 and 1955 he wrote several books on cooking. His first cooking show “I Love to Eat” was shown on NBC in 1946. he also wrote several articles on Women’s Day and House & Garden.

He has also served as a consultant to a number of restaurants and food producers. He also started his own restaurant in Nantucket, which became the focal point of the entire American food industry.

In 1955, he started his own cooking school. For the next 30 years, he taught cooking to a number of women’s clubs, other cooking schools, cooking Professions and civic groups. He also continued to write cookbooks.
