In this post, we are going to know about a German–American poet and novelist who has written about corrupt society and culture with his whole heart. and made the general public aware.
Henry Charles Bukowski, best know as Charles Bukowski. After Ernest Hemingway, he is considered the best creator of single sentences. His writing is simplistic but extraordinary.
He is also considered an underground writer because he has always written for ordinary people and on their subjects. He has written about the problems of a common man.
He has written all his work in simple and direct language from his life experience and imagination.

He was born on August 16, 1920 in Andernach town, Germany. His mother’s name was Katharina and his father Heinrich Bukowski was an army man.
His writing shows that he liked to be alone. He was shy by nature. He did not like crowds of people at all. He was an introverted person.
Charles studied art, journalism, and literature at Los Angeles City College. He wrote his first novel or story at the age of 24 and started writing poetry at the age of 35.
Charles Bukowski has published more than 60 books during his lifetime. Apart from this, He has also written thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and 6 novels.
His book Ham on Rye, Post Office, You Get So Alone at Times It Makes Sense, Love is a Dog From Hell and Notes of a Dirty Old Man is considered his best work.
In 1986, the American magazine “Time” also described Bukowski as a “laureate of American lowlife”.
Although his works were not given much tension in the United States other than New York. But he got a lot of unusual popularity in Europe and his native Germany.
He continued to write till the end of his life. Due to this, he was getting very good attention.

Charles Bukowski died in Los Angeles on March 9, 1994 at the age of 73 from blood cancer called leukemia.
After his death, “Don’t try” was written on his grave. Which is quite confusing. It does not mean that we should not try anything new in life.
This means that you should never just try something but achieve it. So don’t just try. Just feel, be, and do.
In the last, let’s see some amazing quotes from Charles Bukowski that I choose from different sites.
